Sports Massage is the massage and manipulation of the soft tissue of the body such as muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons. Various massage movements are used to promote circulation, increase blood supply and break down fibrous areas which may have formed in muscle, thereby alleviating pain and discomfort and promoting the body's ability to heal.
I am involved with a range of sportsmen and women from activities as diverse as hockey and surfing. My involvement isn't just at the remedial end of the process either, I provide performance enhancing pre, inter and post massage treatment that helps to minimise injuries caused by lack of preparation, maintain an athlete's performance and repair strains and sprains.
I am a qualified First Aider and can give advice and guidance at the acute injury stage when massage is not possible. Often administering critical First Aid at sporting events, competitions or training sessions and referring athletes to other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
Sports massage is the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and restricted flexibility and mobility.
